Nutrition

We aim to encourage and nurture healthy food choices, independence, enjoyment of social eating, and good table manners. Large windows allow inquisitive children to safely observe food being prepared in our kitchen, while a low serving hatch gives them greater independence as they are encouraged to make nutritious choices at mealtimes.

Fresh water is available to all children throughout the day. As they grow, children are encouraged to help themselves to drinks, fostering independence and healthy hydration habits. Our staff ensure that every child stays well hydrated throughout the day.

All staff are paediatric first aid trained and sit with children during mealtimes to provide support and guidance. We adhere strictly to Ofsted’s nutritional guidelines to ensure every child receives a balanced diet. Parents are welcome to meet our Chefs and share your child’s favourite recipes, which may be enjoyed by other children. Our two Chefs are also happy to share their own recipes with parents.

For babies joining Loughborough Nursery, all consumables, including formula milk, are provided up to 12 months of age, unless you prefer to supply breast milk. Please inform the Nursery Manager or your child’s Room Leader if your baby requires formula milk, and we will ensure your preferred brand is available. Our Chefs and the Development team understand the importance of supporting parents during the weaning process. We are happy to offer advice, follow your preferred weaning plans, and provide guidance to ensure a smooth transition to solid foods.

“Loughborough Nursery has lovely classrooms and the teachers are lovely and patient with the kids. I love the way the management is able to accommodate your child’s dietary needs and ensures you child get a balanced meal.”
